Salah M. Werfelli

Salah M. Werfelli has over 30 years of experience in system and integrated circuit (IC) design, and Executive Management and leadership. Before Co-Founding BaySand he was an Executive Vice President for eASIC. Prior to serving in that position he was an Executive Consultant to major start-up companies where he was instrumental in establishing strategic directions and business partnerships.Earlier, he worked with Cadence Design Systems where he held various executive positions including corporate Vice President of Technology, responsible for M&A and business development worldwide. While serving with Cadence, he was the chief architect for the EDA industry’s first major outsourcing project with Unisys Corp. Prior to serving at Cadence, Mr. Werfelli was Vice President of International Field Operations, Corporate Support and Services Worldwide at Magma Design Automation.
Mr. Werfelli started his professional career at Unisys where he spent 14 years serving many technical roles by working in several different departments.Mr. Werfelli received a B.S.E.E. degree from Washington University School of Engineering, St Louis, MO. He was a graduate of the “EPSE” program offered by the University of California San Diego (UCSD), and earned an Engineering PhD from Rochville University. Salah was an instructor for the Dale Carnegie institute, teaching their Effective Speaking and Human Relations Course. He has extensive education and training experience in the areas of Team Building, and TQM.

Sales and Marketing Worldwide
Ehud previously served as President at Interface Masters Technologies a leading system vendor in the network monitoring market, were he defined, designed and market the network monitoring products. Prior to Interface Masters, Ehud was the founder of the residential gateway software at Jungo Software Technologies where he served as the Vice President of Business Development. Jungo was sold to NDS Group in 2006 and today a division at Cisco Systems. Prior to Jungo Ehud was the Vice President of Engineering at Chip Express, Laser Programmable ASIC company, where his responsibilities included managing the prototyping activities, engineering services and customer support.

Dr. Sam L. Appleton

Financial Operations Worldwide
Dr. Sam L. Appleton has over 25 years of experience in operations and leadership, business development, and executive management. Prior to Co-Founding BaySand, Dr. Appleton was an angel investor and has been an entrepreneur for the last 12 years. Before turning her attention to stock, bond, and equities investing, she practiced in the medical field for 15 years.
Dr. Appleton has an undergraduate degree from the University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), in Westwood, CA. And received the doctoral degree of D.M.D, from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in Saint Louis, MO.
Executive Vice President and CTO
Earlier in his career, he has developed and launched two subsequent generations of Altera’s “HardCopy” products that provided first seamless Altera FPGAs to volume production solution. Before joining Altera, Mr. Park held several engineering management and development positions at Chip Express, LSI Logic and AMI.
Mr. Park has been granted with ten patents in the fields of metal programmable devices and methodology and received BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Utah.

DSP Engineering (Co-Founder)
Previously, Asher developed innovative DSP solutions to be embedded in FPGA, ASIC, DSP Processors, and SoC devices. He served as DSP solutions system architect at Lattice Semiconductor, where he received the 2011 Innovator of the Year Award and managed the DSP IP cores group at Altera. He served in various management positions at Synopsys, Zilog, DSP Group Inc., and DSP Communications.
Asher has developed more than 15 patents. He received his BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and MSc degrees in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.
President and CEO BaySand Japan Operation
Miwa-san moved his career to chip design and test, when he joined the Japanese subsidiary of Teradyne as a Vice President. Miwa-san held several management positions at Topre Corp, including Board Member, Executive VP of R&D, and General Manager of New Business Units, including Automotive.
Miwa-san received a degree in Economic and Business Management from the University of Kyushu and his Business Consulting certificate from the Industrial Productivity Institute.
President and CEO BaySand Luzhou Operation
With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor executive and management positions, as well as entrepreneurship with his own industrial camera business, Mr Louie Leung has brought to BaySand key ingredients to be successful in the Asia market. Prior to joining BaySand, Louie has been a consultant assisting several technology start-up companies in acquiring investment as well as business development specific to the China market.
Mr Leung spent 13 years in Altera, he was the founding member of the Altera Asia Pacific sales & marketing organization – and one of the pioneers to bring FPGA technology into Asia. Starting as the head of sales in the region, he built the whole sales/FAE team and distributor channel. His team was regarded as the strongest for demand creation in the semiconductor industry in Asia. Later he was responsible for the marketing and market development teams, further securing Altera’s leading position in the market, building successful partnership with key strategic customers (such as Huawei, Zhongxing, Samsung, Mindray and DJI) and other parties, while protecting Altera’s interest with his strong business acumen.
Mr Leung started his professional career at National Semiconductor in the early 80’s. At the early stage of his career, he spent considerable time with a wide range of semiconductor products and applications. He was responsible for the ASIC business in Asia Pacific, and was one of the few early pioneers to bring ASIC methodology into the region. Mr Leung built the organization from scratch, and then led the ASIC business and design centre teams to win numerous projects across Asia.
Mr Leung received his Bachelor of Engineering Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Executive Vice President Operations
Mr. Ewanich previously served as vice president of operations at BridgeLux, Inc., Analogix, eSilicon, and Silicon Value. Early in his career he led package development, assembly and wafer bumping organizations while continuing to hold positions of increasing engineering and operations responsibility at National Semiconductor, Philips Semiconductors and S3 Graphics.
Mr. Ewanich has authored several papers and has been granted five U.S. patents. Mr. Ewanich has served as Vice Chairman of JEDEC’s Board of Directors. Mr. Ewanich received BS degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University, and an MS degree in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Washington.
George N. Alexy
Senior Vice President
Starting his semiconductor career in Intel’s microprocessor division, he attained the position of Product Marketing Manager of Intel’s Microprocessor Division responsible for strategic planning, product definition and marketing of all microprocessor products including Intel’s 286, pivotal 386, 486 microprocessors and associated coprocessors.
He later joined Cirrus Logic as VP of Marketing and key member of the management team that took the company public in 1989. During his tenure at Cirrus, he served in positions ranging from Corporate-wide VP of Marketing, VP/GM of various Product Divisions and Office of the President.
He is a graduate of Drexel and Stanford Universities with studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
