Salah Werfelli
President and CEO (Co-Founder)

Salah Werfelli has over 30 years of experience in system and integrated circuit (IC) design, and Executive Management and leadership. Before Co-Founding BaySand he was an Executive Vice President for eASIC. Prior to serving in that position he was an Executive Consultant to major start-up companies where he was instrumental in establishing strategic directions and business partnerships.Earlier, he worked with Cadence Design Systems where he held various executive positions including corporate Vice President of Technology, responsible for M&A and business development worldwide. While serving with Cadence, he was the chief architect for the EDA industry’s first major outsourcing project with Unisys Corp. Prior to serving at Cadence, Mr. Werfelli was Vice President of International Field Operations, Corporate Support and Services Worldwide at Magma Design Automation.

Mr. Werfelli started his professional career at Unisys where he spent 14 years serving many technical roles by working in several different departments.Mr. Werfelli received a B.S.E.E. degree from Washington University School of Engineering, St Louis, MO. He was a graduate of the “EPSE” program offered by the University of California San Diego (UCSD), and earned an Engineering PhD from Rochville University. Salah was an instructor for the Dale Carnegie institute, teaching their Effective Speaking and Human Relations Course. He has extensive education and training experience in the areas of Team Building, and TQM.

Jonathan Park
Executive Vice President and CTO (Co-Founder)

Jonathan Park has over 25 years of experience in engineering and executive management specialized in the metal programmable ASIC industry. As BaySand’s CTO he has served to develop and to bring innovative and disruptive Metal Configurable Standard Cell (MCSC) technology to product realization. Prior to co-founding Baysand, he served as Vice President of Engineering at eASIC, where he developed two generations of products with first-time-right success.

Earlier in his career, he has developed and launched two subsequent generations of Altera’s “HardCopy” products that provided first seamless Altera FPGAs to volume production solution. Before joining Altera, Mr. Park held several engineering management and development positions at Chip Express, LSI Logic and AMI.

Mr. Park has been granted with ten patents in the fields of metal programmable devices and methodology and received BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Utah.

Dr. Sam L. Appleton
Executive Vice President HR & Financial Operations Worldwide and CHRO (Co-Founder)

Dr. Sam Appleton has over 25 years of experience in operations and leadership, business development, and executive management. Prior to Co-Founding BaySand, Dr. Appleton was an angel investor and has been an entrepreneur for the last 12 years. Before turning her attention to stock, bond, and equities investing, she practiced in the medical field for 15 years.

Dr. Appleton has an undergraduate degree from the University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), in Westwood, CA. And received the doctoral degree of D.M.D, from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in Saint Louis, MO.


Seiji Miwa
President and CEO BaySand Japan Operation

Seiji Miwa has over 40 years of experience in the electronics industry. Miwa-san has strong relationships with the leaders and management of many of Japan’s major semiconductor companies. Before joining BaySand he served as President of eASIC’s Japan office. He served as President of AmmoCore-Japan. Previously, he was chairman and President of Magma Design Automation, K.K. Japan. And prior to Magma, Miwa-san served as President and then Chairman at Cadence Design Systems, K.K. Japan.

Miwa-san moved his career to chip design and test, when he joined the Japanese subsidiary of Teradyne as a Vice President. Miwa-san held several management positions at Topre Corp, including Board Member, Executive VP of R&D, and General Manager of New Business Units, including Automotive.

Miwa-san received a degree in Economic and Business Management from the University of Kyushu and his Business Consulting certificate from the Industrial Productivity Institute.

Ehud Yuhjtman
Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing Worldwide and COO (Co-Founder)

Ehud has over 30 year of experience in the communication and chip market. He joined Baysand via the acquisition of FalconX Accelerator, where he served as CEO. FalconX Accelerator developed Low Power Digital Signal Processing IP with unique flexibility and “on the fly” configuration targeting image processing, mobile devices, mobile stations, consumer, automotive, industrial and IoT.

Ehud previously served as President at Interface Masters Technologies a leading system vendor in the network monitoring market, were he defined, designed and market the network monitoring products. Prior to Interface Masters, Ehud was the founder of the residential gateway software at Jungo Software Technologies where he served as the Vice President of Business Development. Jungo was sold to NDS Group in 2006 and today a division at Cisco Systems. Prior to Jungo Ehud was the Vice President of Engineering at Chip Express, Laser Programmable ASIC company, where his responsibilities included managing the prototyping activities, engineering services and customer support.

Ehud received his B.S.C degree. in Computer Science from Technion -Institute of Technology

Asher Hazanchuk
Executive Vice President and CTO for DSP Engineering (Co-Founder)

Asher Hazanchuk has over 30 years of experience in product planning & engineering management. He founded FalconX Accelerator, where he developed the Falcon technology of post-silicon reconfigurable ASIC DSP IP.

Previously, Asher developed innovative DSP solutions to be embedded in FPGA, ASIC, DSP Processors, and SoC devices. He served as DSP solutions system architect at Lattice Semiconductor, where he received the 2011 Innovator of the Year Award and managed the DSP IP cores group at Altera. He served in various management positions at Synopsys, Zilog, DSP Group Inc., and DSP Communications.

Asher has developed more than 15 patents. He received his BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and MSc degrees in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.

Jon Ewanich
Executive Vice President Operation

Jon Ewanich joined Baysand in January 2012 as executive vice president of operations, bringing 30 years of operations experience to the company. Since 2007 he has provided executive leadership and manufacturing expertise as an operations consultant to multiple early stage fabless semiconductor and MEMS companies.

Mr. Ewanich previously served as vice president of operations at BridgeLux, Inc., Analogix, eSilicon, and Silicon Value. Early in his career he led package development, assembly and wafer bumping organizations while continuing to hold positions of increasing engineering and operations responsibility at National Semiconductor, Philips Semiconductors and S3 Graphics.

Mr. Ewanich has authored several papers and has been granted five U.S. patents. Mr. Ewanich has served as Vice Chairman of JEDEC’s Board of Directors. Mr. Ewanich received BS degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University, and an MS degree in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Washington.

George N. Alexy
Senior VP (SVP) of Strategic Planning

Mr. Alexy has over 30 years experience in semiconductor executive and management positions. Prior to joining BaySand, George served in a broad number of roles within startups including CEO, VP of Marketing and Advisor at the request of the Boards of Directors.

Starting his semiconductor career in Intel’s microprocessor division, he attained the position of Product Marketing Manager of Intel’s Microprocessor Division responsible for strategic planning, product definition and marketing of all microprocessor products including Intel’s 286, pivotal 386, 486 microprocessors and associated coprocessors.

He later joined Cirrus Logic as VP of Marketing and key member of the management team that took the company public in 1989. During his tenure at Cirrus, he served in positions ranging from Corporate-wide VP of Marketing, VP/GM of various Product Divisions and Office of the President.
He is a graduate of Drexel and Stanford Universities with studies at the University of Pennsylvania.

Moazzem Hossain
Executive VP, Design Solutions

Moazzem Hossain has over 20 years of experience in ASIC and EDA industries. Before joining BaySand, Inc. as Executive Vice President of Design Solutions, Mr. Hossain co-founded Fastrack Design, as ASIC design solutions and services company, in Silicon Valley and served as President & CEO for more than ten years. Prior to founding Fastrack, he held numerous positions at Magma Design Automation. He was instrumental in Magma’s successful launch of EDA products and customer successes. Mr. Hossain joined Sun Microsystems in 1996 and was part of Sun’s ASIC design team for its systems. Mr. Hossain started his career as a software development engineer at VLSI Technologies/Compass Design Automation. Over his career span, Mr. Hossain has demonstrated his ability to promote products and services and secure and develop key accounts to maximize company profit.

Mr. Hossain has four patents and over 40 technical publications in the areas of electronic design and design automation.
