Salah M. Werfelli is an established Silicon Valley serial entrepreneur with over 30 years experience in system and integrated circuit (IC) design solutions with an Executive Management track record of building industry leading business enterprises.
Before Co-Founding BaySand he was an Executive Vice President of eASIC establishing eASIC as a leading semiconductor company recently acquired by Intel Corporation. Prior to serving in that position he was an Executive Consultant to multiple major USA, International and start-up companies where he was instrumental in establishing leadership generating strategic directions and business partnerships. Earlier, at Cadence Design Systems, he held executive management positions including Corporate Vice President of Technology responsible for worldwide strategic M&A focusing on strategic and business development acquisitions and served as chief architect for the EDA industry’s outsourcing business model leading to Cadence’s industry leadership in the EDA technology and solutions market. Prior to serving at Cadence, Mr. Werfelli was Vice President of International Field Operations, Corporate Support and Services Worldwide at Magma Design Automation.
Mr. Werfelli holds patents in his fields, a B.S.E.E. degree from Washington University School of Engineering, St Louis, MO with studies at UCLA in Nuclear Engineering and is a graduate of the PhD Executive Program for Sciences and Engineers from the University of California San Diego.
John currently serves as Managing Partner of Black Diamond Ventures, LLC. He served and held executive positions at public companies such as Chief Executive Officer and President of Spansion Inc., and President and Chief Operating Officer of KLA-Tencor Corporation. John has been a Director of several security and networking companies like Barracuda Networks, TriNet Group, Gigamon, Extreme Networks, Tela Innovations and others. He received an M.B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and a B.A. Degree in Political Science from Grinnell College.
Jim was a general partner at Telos Venture Partners and senior vice president of business development at Artisan Components Inc., now part of ARM Holdings PLC. He held executive engineering, marketing and operational management positions at Cadence Design Systems, Inc., National Semiconductor Corporation and Phillips Semiconductor.
Jim holds a B.A. degree in mathematics, a B.S. degree in computer science and an M.B.A. all from San Jose State University. He serves on several private companies’ board of directors. Additionally Jim serves as a strategic advisor to several private and public companies.
Dr. Sam L. Appleton has over 25 years of experience in operations and leadership, business development, and executive management. Prior to Co-Founding BaySand, Dr. Appleton was an angel investor and has been an entrepreneur for the last 12 years. Before turning her attention to stock, bond, and equities investing, she practiced in the medical field for 15 years.
Previously, Asher developed innovative DSP solutions to be embedded in FPGA, ASIC, DSP Processors, and SoC devices. He served as DSP solutions system architect at Lattice Semiconductor, where he received the 2011 Innovator of the Year Award and managed the DSP IP cores group at Altera. He served in various management positions at Synopsys, Zilog, DSP Group Inc., and DSP Communications.
Asher has developed more than 15 patents. He received his BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and MSc degrees in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.
Vice President of Business Development – Marubun USA Corp.
Ken Morikawa has over 20 years of experience at the high-tech industry across US, Europe and Asia regions. Currently he serves as Vice President of Business Development at Marubun USA Corp. Prior to that, he held several key roles at major semiconductors and start-up companies. (Analog Devices Inc., Vativ Technologies Inc., NXP Semiconductors)
He received a bachelor degree of Electronics Engineering from Tokyo Denki University in Japan.
